Test Bed 1

TEST BED 1 (TB1) – INSTRUMENTATION AND MEASUREMENT LABORATORY, INSTITUTO DE TELECOMUNICAÇÕES (IT), LISBON

TB1, hosted at the Instrumentation and Measurement Laboratory (IMLAB) of the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) in Lisbon, is led by the IT team within Work Package 1 (WP1) of the MORE4WATER project.
This laboratory testbed plays a key role in refining the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and assessing the performance of its components under controlled conditions. TB1 enables in-depth validation and calibration of prototype devices developed for real-time monitoring of water systems.

The IMLAB is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, supporting both manual and automated measurements of a wide range of quantities. Its capabilities include:
Measurement of electrical quantities under specific conditions (low and medium frequency)
Characterization of passive and active components, including analog-to-digital converters and data acquisition systems
Measurement of non-electrical parameters, such as Temperature, pH, Turbidity, Gas concentrations. Heavy metals
The laboratory also supports remote data transmission and processing, enabling integrated and flexible testing workflows. The main lab is located on the 11th floor of Torre Norte, IST-Lisbon, and is shared with other IT research groups. IM Group members also have access to additional facilities at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of IST.
By leveraging these capabilities, TB1 ensures robust development and evaluation of the WSN technology that supports WP1 objectives and contributes to the MORE4WATER project’s broader goals of smart, distributed monitoring for water resource management.
