STAKEHOLDER FORUM

The MORE4WATER Stakeholder Forum brings together utilities, policymakers, researchers and citizens to discuss challenges, share experiences and co-create solutions for sustainable water management.
Feedback from water utilities, including on high-frequency monitoring and PRV performance, influenced the focus of subsequent Living Lab activities and research and technology-transfer discussions.

Stakeholder Forum article series

The MORE4WATER Stakeholder Forum has launched a dedicated article series in Servizi a Rete, a national technical journal widely read by Italian water utilities and water-sector professionals.
The initiative creates a direct dialogue between researchers and water utilities, allowing operational experience to inform research and project results to reach professionals working in the field.
So far, 8 Italian water utilities have contributed to two thematic discussions:
– Water transmission mains, involving Acea Acqua – Gruppo Acea, Alto Trevigiano Servizi, Publiacqua and Acoset SpA, with a focus on resilience, monitoring, digitalisation, infrastructure ageing and future design.
– Water distribution networks, involving Acque, ABC – Acqua Bene Comune Napoli, Piave Servizi and Tennacola SpA, addressing pipe failures, water losses, user-induced pressure variations, monitoring and asset management.
The Forum also provides a channel for transferring MORE4WATER innovations to utilities, including the M4WLogger high-frequency monitoring system developed within the project.
This initiative reflects the Living Lab philosophy of MORE4WATER: knowledge transfer, co-creation with utilities and the development of solutions grounded in real operational needs.

“Apericerca” at POST science museum in Perugia, Italy. An outreach event, open to the community, focused on the importance and value of water as a vital resource. Professor Silvia Meniconi delivered a presentation addressing this topic within the framework of the challenges and opportunities explored by the More4Water project.
The audience was actively engaged through an interactive challenge that invited participants to answer questions on water-related issues from multiple perspectives — including engineering, agriculture, law, and economics. This approach fostered meaningful interaction, encouraged questions, and allowed participants to clarify their doubts while deepening their understanding of the topic.

“Technical visit to the pilot system PS3 in Padua” co-organized by AcegasApsAmga and University of Perugia to show digital monitoring in action.

70 students of the University of Perugia explored how the integrated water cycle is managed, from water collection to distribution. Under the supervision of Eng. Andrea Rubin, Eng. Lorenzo Tirello, Eng. Francesca Gagliardi, Eng. Alessandra Carta and Eng. Alberto Doro, they visited the Brentelle and Montà pumping stations and the main transmission pipelines supplying the city of Padua from the Villaverla spring system. Students also had the opportunity to enter inside a water tank, directly experiencing the infrastructure behind urban water distribution systems.

The initiative represented an important opportunity to connect academic learning with real-world engineering practice and included interactive activities such as the “DoMore4Water” quiz.

2–3 September 2026

MORE4WATER was represented at the 15th Global Leakage Summit in London, where Bruno Brunone presented recent research on the use of pressure data for identifying the source of pressure surges in water distribution networks.
