Miriam Saraceni is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Climate Change Research Centre of the Interuniversity Centre, CIRIAF, at the University of Perugia, specializing in climate physics, numerical modeling, and ensemble forecasting of extreme weather events. She holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Perugia, awarded cum laude, with a thesis on multi-scale modeling of precipitation processes. During her doctorate, she carried out research at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), focusing on ensemble modeling of Mediterranean tropical-like cyclones (Medicanes).
Her research integrates high-resolution predictive models, cloud-resolving simulations, and reanalysis data to advance the understanding and forecasting of meteoclimatic phenomena in the Mediterranean region. She has contributed to international research initiatives, including the European COST Action MEDCYCLONES network. She collaborates as a consultant in the MORE4WATER project, developing combined monitoring and forecast strategies for sustainable water resources management.
Miriam has presented her work at leading international conferences and authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on climate modeling, precipitation extremes, and hydrometeorological applications. Beyond her academic activities, she is actively engaged in scientific dissemination on climate change and environmental issues, collaborating with schools and civic associations.
