From 12 to 15 March 2026, the fourth edition of the Water Forum was held in Terni and the Valnerina, with MORE4WATER represented by research team member Jacopo Paffarini, who participated as a panelist.
The Water Forum is an important annual initiative in the Umbria Region, providing a space for discussion on good practices for the protection and regeneration of water resources and for the development of sustainable and circular solutions. The event also promotes the unique environmental and cultural setting of the Marmore Falls as an example of the interaction between water, human activities and landscape.
The 2026 edition was organised around the theme of “fluid ideas”, encouraging an integrated vision of water as an environmental, economic, cultural and social resource.
Water governance was addressed during the session “Water, Territory, Shared Decisions”, which brought together institutions, technical experts and communities to discuss participatory approaches to the management of river and lake basins, including water fees and river contracts.
The session “Territories That Speak: How to Give Voice to Landscapes” instead explored the relationship between landscape, culture, innovation and communication, focusing on new ways of telling the stories of territories and the communities that inhabit them.
MORE4WATER’s participation contributed to the Forum’s broader objective of strengthening dialogue among research, institutions and society for more inclusive and sustainable water governance.
